Our Interlibrary loan (ILL) and chapter scan services help NYU Shanghai students, faculty, and staff to obtain material not held in our library. Before requesting any material through Interlibrary Loan, your library account must be in good standing. For more information such as loan policy, renewal, return and fines, please refer to Borrow from NYU Shanghai.
If you are in a rush, or that you only need a portion of a book, you can request it through the chapter scan service. If you are not sure what part you need, you can submit a request for the scan of the table of contents first.
Requests must fall within fair use guidelines. The interpretation of fair use can vary from library to library but is generally viewed as only 1 chapter, or around 10% of the work.
- To place a request, log in to your Interlibrary Loan (ILL) account.
- Select the type of resources you want to request and fill out the form.
- You will be notified via e-mail when the item has been received and where it can be picked up or accessed.
Members of the NYU Shanghai community can apply for a Pudong Public Library(PPL) card through our library for free. It gives you access to all the public libraries in Shanghai, including the Shanghai Library, Pudong Public Library, as well as their online resources such as Fangzheng, Weipu, Overdrive, etc.
The applications from our university are batch-processed by Pudong Library once a semester. Please pay attention to promotional materials from the library for application dates.
