The NYU Shanghai Library High-Performance Computer Lab (HPC Lab) is designed for use for
NYU-authorized use only. The Lab provides high-performance computer stations equipped with
special software to support individual needs.
Using the Lab
- Users of the computer and HPC Lab must abide by the Library Code of Conduct.
- The HPC Lab is intended for individual use when the library is open and scheduled library classes are not in session
- It is the responsibility of individuals to keep the space and facilities in operational status while using the HPC Lab. Do not unplug any power or cables from the computerstations.
- Food or drinks are prohibited, with the exception of bottled water.
- Be mindful of other users working around you. Keep noise and conversation at levels that are not disruptive to fellow users.
- Please remove any garbage when you leave the lab.
- Personal belongings should not be left unattended. The library is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property.
- To protect privacy and information security, all user data on computers in the HPC Lab,will be permanently deleted upon restart or shutdown. The library holds no responsibility for the loss of user data. Remember to save your work to personal cloud storage or an external USB device before logging out.
- Library staff routinely monitor the use of the lab and reserve the right to ask users to leave for inappropriate behavior. Non-compliance may result in a referral to campus Public Safety.
- Please report any equipment problems to the Service desk or email shanghai.circulation@nyu.edu before leaving the library.
- New software recommendations made by users will be passed to the Library’s administration for consideration. Requests for the installation of software/freeware that is not intended for recurrent and frequent use may not be accommodated.
- The Library reserves the right to modify this policy at any time. Failure to comply with this policy will result in the loss of privileges and the denial of future reservations.
Reservation Guidelines
- Eligible NYU users can book a computer in the HPC Lab through the HPC Lab reservation system. Computers can be reserved up to 3 days in advance.
- Each individual can make up to 2 reservations per day. A maximum of 2 hours can be booked for each reservation.
- You will receive a confirmation email at your nyu.edu address.
- If any change of your plan occurs, you are expected to modify or cancel your reservation accordingly.
- NYU Shanghai Library reserves the right to cancel or modify reservations.
