China Biographical Database Project (CBDB)/中国历代人物资料传记

The China Biographical Database is a freely accessible relational database with biographical information about approximately 360,000 individuals as of April 2015, primarily from the 7th through 19th centuries. With both online and offline versions, the data is meant to be useful for statistical, social network, and spatial analysis as well as serving as a kind of biographical reference. The image below shows the spatial distribution of a cross dynastic subset of 190,000 people in CBDB by basic affiliations (籍貫).

Digital Humanities Platform of Shanghai Library/历史人文大数据平台

Digital Humanities Platform of Shanghai Library gathers links to various Chinese humanity data platforms of modern newspapers, advertisements, periodicals, modern books, genealogies, ancient books, family archives, etc. Besides, the portal provides maps that displays the origins of documents, and offers knowledge graphs that demonstrate the internal relationships among documents.

The open data, in the form of Linked Data, supporting the Digital Humanities Project can be found herehttp://data.library.sh.cn/index. The platform publishes the general knowledge base (people, places, time, events, and objects), literature knowledge base (genealogy, archive and manuscripts, ancient books, etc.), and ontology vocabulary used in the digital humanities project. Examples include Name Authority Database, Chinese Surname List, Seal Knowledge Base, Taboo Knowledge Base, Engraver Knowledge Base etc.
